When Amber with Eisenhower High School first came to me with the idea of a Cirque du Soleil prom, I remember thinking how are we going to pull that off? Well, it took a lot of brainstorming, creative outside the box thinking, and collaborating with some amazing vendors. We wanted guests to walk into the ballroom and immediately notice everything that was going on in the air and on the ceiling so we kept all the chair covers and linens black to draw eyes up.
Colonial Events in Troy, MI. was a tremendous asset to pulling off our vision. They up lit our centerpieces and walls, covered the ballroom windows with a decorative hourglass drape design, created custom cirque inspired chandeliers and hung all of our aerial centerpieces for us.
Every year Amber sells four VIP prom tables to the students, each are sold for $5 more per ticket for the opportunity to sit with 20 of your friends instead of 10 at a table that promises to WOW!
Christopher & Company created centerpieces like the one above for us with spider mums, oversize bowl vases, brightly colored ostrich feathers, and filled the bowls with water beads and glowing led lights.
Our hula hoop acrobats were a major team effort! A lot of students were involved in this process. The little wooden mannequins were purchased from IKEA, then spray painted and covered in glitter and suspended over tables with bright colored fabric. They were posed and attached well using zip ties.
Balloons were ordered from Balloons by Patricia. We rented the black flair chair covers, black floor length linens and VIP royal blue table linens from Luxe Event Linen in Troy, MI.
We had these table numbers custom made by my friend Jamie with Katie Doodle, visit Katie Doodle on Facebook for more inspiration or shop her custom designs and prints at her Etsy shop, Kates Kanvas
Our emcee and music were provided by Nick Anderson and his team with Nick at Night DJ Service. Visit his website at www.gotnick.com
This spectacular event took place at The Palazzo Grande in Shelby Twp. MI., one of the larger ballrooms around town, large enough to hold our almost 800 prom goers!
Just before dinner was served, a local act of aerialists and four acrobats kicked off our evening with a performance! After all, what would a Cirque du Soleil theme event be without entertainers?!
